Can you divide a Bleeding Heart plant?

I was wondering if you can divide a Bleeding Heart? I have one that is getting very large and is taking over my garden.

Thank you

Can you divide a Bleeding Heart plant?
If you live in a northern climate be careful as to when you split them because they commonly die totally back during mid-late summer.
Reply:Yes. I would wait till it's done blooming then cut it back, split it and replant it.
Reply:i have done it in early spring by splitting them with a shovel, and they have done just fine. i would assume you could do it in the fall as well. i did a search and found this:
