What is a Bleeding Heart Liberal?
The term 'bleeding heart' stems from the notion that Liberals try to find solutions to problems that make THEM feel better - regardless of short or, more importantly long, term results of their polices. A typical 'bleeding heart' Liberal will seek to stick their noses in and try solve someone else problems rather than make an effort to create conditions within which people can solve problems for themselves.

I've heard it defined as caring. Not trying to appease the enemy.


WAKEUP, just because we give the right of women to choose so that they won't be miserable their entire lives for having a baby from a man who raped her, doesn't mean we aren't compassionate. Think about it.

The term is used to portray conscientiousness as something extreme and ridiculous, like somebody deciding to bleed his own heart. There is, of course, no way to ever precisely measure how sensitive and how feeling we ought to be toward the hardships and sufferings of others. That the current American president would like to portray himself as a "compassionate conservative," demonstrates that a lack of compassion is not itself a positive political attribute.

It starts getting out of hand when their heart bleeds for people who don't deserve it like murderers such as Andrea Yates and crying about how we give the death penalty to people who actually deserve to be killed.


Then they are kind of contradicting themselves when they are the type of bleeding heart liberal who has 0 compassion for the unborn,
