Do you prune bleeding hearts (the flower)?

Do you cut the dead flowers or leave them alone?

Do you prune bleeding hearts (the flower)?
i normally prune mine by about 50% and it comes back fantasticly each time with several sessions of flowering each year.

They are very easy to grow from cuttings too, so if you want more, stick them in pots and they will have roots within 2 weeks
Reply:You can cut it back to ground level after it wilts. It will sprout as soon as the ground melts in the spring. It is a perennial. That's what I do and nothing happens to it. And it does multiply.
Reply:Just leave them alone. They should die back and return in the spring. Very invasive
Reply:I grow them, and it's best to leave the whole plant alone. More flowers next year! :) Arum
Reply:No you don't; just let them fade and die out.
Reply:you could cut them back or to thin them out split the bulb then you not only thinned your plant you also got another plant
Reply:I worked at a nursery and we cut the whole plant back entirely to the ground. It looked very messy after the flowers were gone.
