If liberals have bleeding hearts, do conservatives have no hearts?

Ah, there's the rub. Unfortunately the facts, but let's not quibble with those, show that conservatives are MUCH more giving than liberals.

If liberals have bleeding hearts, do conservatives have no hearts?
Liberal, Give a man a fish, he'll eat today, and come back tomorrow and the day after asking for more free fish.





Conservative, Teach a man to fish, and he'll feed himself and his family for a lifetime.





Now, you tell me who's more compassionate.

Conservatives not having hearts (or compassion) is a common misconception. I was liberal when I was younger, but then realized the "compassion" of wanting to take care of the less fortunate was actually making more people less fortunate. That's where Churchill's quote comes in ("...liberal at 20, conservative at 40..."), because it takes awhile to figure this out through experience and critical thinking.





Conservatives remind me of parents who raise their children to think for themselves, obey the law, be productive, self-sufficient and accountable for their actions. These kids usually turn out okay.





Liberals remind me of parents who bail their kids out of trouble and try to make life easy for them. Those kids are wrecks by the time they hit 40 because they've never been held accountable for poor decisions.





Conservatives believe in consequences for actions, but they also support charities that teach people how to fish and take care of the people who truly don't have the capacity to do it themselves.





Liberals want to to remove consequences for actions and call this compassion.
