Why can not the bleeding hearts back off and let bush do his job?

we should think about our kids and grandkids hope they can live with out fear in their older years

Why can not the bleeding hearts back off and let bush do his job?
Bush has been doing his job all along. No matter the concerns of the 'bleeding hearts' or his opposition, he has maintained his course. You will NEVER get away from criticism...and no president is immune from that. But he hasn't seemed to let any criticism, counsel, recommendations or advice get in the way of his agenda. As for living without fear....I'm sorry to have to add that I don't think that is possible. The US has been involved in far too many incidents in the middle east over the past 20+ years...and we are now seeing the result and aftermath of that intervention...
Reply:I am a Republican who voted for Bush and who still supports him. While I don't necessarily agree that we should have gone to war with Iraq and I do question whether Mr. President made a mistake in that regard, I truly believe it is critical for us to remain in Iraq until it is stable enough for their Iraqi government to take over. By the way, my baby brother is serving in Iraq at this very moment. I think that those of you who want our troops home now are selfish and are not thinking about our troops...and more than likely you don't have a soldier serving. While ideally it would be wonderful to have them home, if we leave now, Iraq will become a terrorist haven and we will only have to go back there in a couple of years to resume the war...but we will be sending our troops back into a severely more dangerous enemy...without our presence there, they will become a stronger and more intelligent and planning enemy. I believe that it is to our advantage and to our troops' long-term safety, for us to remain until the country is stable. I don't understand those of you who want the troops home now. I mean, I do but I don't...of course I want my brother home...but I'd rather him be there now with an advantage on his side than have to go back in a couple of years to an even stronger enemy.

Also, think of all the soldiers who have already lost their lives. The majority of our soldiers truly believe in their mission and what they are doing and that they are making a difference (and contrary to media reports, they really are). Their lives will have been lost in vain if we don't achieve victory (and to me victory is simply stabilizing the country enough to allow us to withdraw).

Please, please think about the future consequences of withdrawing now and think about our troops. Pray for their safety daily. They are fighting to make the world a safer place for you and I believe it can be one day...but, people, it takes time and patience and we must give it that or we will have disastrous consequences.
Reply:It is up to the American people to let the President of the USA what we expect of him. It is our duty and our privilege to voice our concerns to our president, and our state representatives. Why wouldn't we? If we see things that we do not like, its not about complaining, its about voicing our concerns. We are all keepers of the planet, we can all do something to help our environment, at least by doing just one thing each day, like recycling, or hanging our clothes out to dry, or write your senator about something that bugs you. If we ALL let the President know what we want, don't you think that would make a difference. Most people just do nothing. There is something everyone can do-recycle-turn off lights, drive less, etc.
Reply:What is wrong with helping people and being a good steward of our planet? That is a convenant of the Bible.

You are in the small minority of people that like our president. He has a 28% approval rating.

His unjustifed war against Iraq has served as a recruting tool and training ground for Al Qaida. Before the war Iraq did not have an Al Qaida presence. The nutcase Hussain didn't like radical Islamists.

He panders too much to the right-wing religious types that think the Bible should be our law. Goodness, to me that sounds like the Arab countries that practice the laws of the Koran known as Sharia. Ahh, the good old days of the Bible, let's stone somebody because they ate meat on Friday!
Reply:what are those?
Reply:We did that after 9-11 and look what happened! He completely side-stepped the efforts to find Osama bin Laden and instead started a war with a completely different country despite the evidence he already had that Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction!

Here it is 2007 and we still are no closer to capturing bin Laden. And now Iraq is in a state of incredible instability because insufficient planning was done before storming the country!

And look at how nicely he handled Katrina! He ignored New Orleans while more than a thousand people died IN OUR OWN COUNTRY, while thousands of people sat with no food or water for weeks. And New Orleans is STILL suffering.

Bush has demonstrated how much he cares for the US by his response to Katrina and his brilliance at international affairs by his behavior in Iraq. We let him run the country in the ground after Iraq in the name of supporting this country in a time of war.

Now it's time to clean up the mess he made- the mess we allowed to happen by not being "on his back" while he made all those tragic errors of neglect and malintent.
Reply:I agree. As a Christian I look up to Bush for looking toward God for help in leading the nation. So many people have taken God out of America and it is about time we have a president who is a moral man. In my opinion people are rejecting Bush because he is a Christian, but what they might not realize is they are rejecting God!
Reply:Because if Bush does the job the way he wants to, your kids and grandkids will have even more reason to worry in their older years. Never mind their older years, they'll be worrying about and having to support their parents and grandparents long before that.
Reply:The other Day Bush was asked what he thought about Carter's criticism of him.

Bush replied that he gets criticized alot, but Americans need to know he makes his decisions based on what he belives is best for this country. What he was hired to do.

You see liberals want him to do what is best for them as individuals.Like Clinton did.

He did whatever kept him popular.A good president knows that what people want individually is not what is always best for the country. He doesn't pander to these rich upper class global warming fanatics and that pisses them off.
Reply:Bush's job is to fulfill the will of the American people and defend the constitution. He instead completely disregards the people's demands, and has sodomized the constitution. Please..... time to tear off that "Bush '04" bumper sticker and wake up. It's over; you had your chance and your monkey-boy blew it for the GOP.
Reply:Because Bush is an idiot who is leading the country on a path to destruction. And I say this even though I am a registered Republican.
Reply:after so many years.... I am still waiting for Bush to start doing his job.
Reply:Do his job lol?

He hasn't protected our Constitution he has butchered it.

See this............http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfAdQrKMZ...

I can't believe you think he is doing his job. He is the worst president in history and he only has a 28% approval rating.

You might want to start educating yourself on the facts instead of what the talking heads on TV and the media tell you. He has made it legal to torture people and removed habias corpus (your right to a trial after beening thrown in jail)

Time to learn and learn fast.
Reply:I think Bush's intentions are good, but the way he goes about things are bad.

How are you supposed to reach peace with a country if you will never even talk with them? Heck, even an idiot could equate that to a marriage quarrel and figure that out. If you don't talk about it, there's no way the situation can be worked on to make it better.

Even Pat Buchanan (an ULTRA conservative) has said that Bush's foreign policy is extremely lacking. He stated and I agree that the US became a super power by staying out of wars. FDR wouldn't consider entering WW2 until Pearl Harbor was attacked. Woodrow Wilson wouldn't consider war till one of our major ships was sunk. After Truman the US moved to a lets contain communism. Then Bush moves it a step farther and says lets not only contain it but lets attack it and go on the offense. FDR and Wilson would have totally disagreed with that. I agree with Teddy Roosevelts policy, "Walk softly but carry a big stick." By that I mean, do go entering every little skirmish like we do now. But have the military means on hand to crush anybody that does attack you.

Why do people hate bullies in school? They hate them because they alway get their way and use their muscle to push them around. That has been the Bush Administration's policy for both foreign and domestic problems, "Do this or else." When we bully other countries around all they are going to do is get mad at us whether it is good intentioned or not.

We've lost almost 3 times as many people fighting in Iraq as we did in 9/11. To me, that doesn't make sense. Afghanistan did because the people who attacked us were hiding there and Afghanistan was protecting them.

Then we attack Iraq which did not have weapons of mass destruction. Heck, we didn't even let the UN inspectors finish their job which would have been done in a few days.

Now after Bush has finally lost his bullying ability by losing control of Congress he is holding on to his last bits of power by holding up our troops as a political sacrificial lamb. He does this by threatening to keep them there even if Congress cuts off funds to try forcing the president to finally bring our troops home, cut our losses, and protect more of our brave soldiers from getting slaughtered. So the Democrats are faced with a horrible situation: keep funding the war in Iraq and watch more and more troops die each day in a losing battle that the Iraqi government won't step up and take responsibility for or cut off troops and risk the possibility of Bush commanding the troops still stay there without funding, causing our troops to get slaughtered.

Bush said he would compromise with the Democrats. He has never compromised. Summarizing a quote from his good friend Delay who was ousted from Congress due to illegal actions: "If the Democrats get in our way, crush them and make them pay for it." Bush's Administration has taken that stance and while the Republicans were in control of Congress they followed his bull-headed approach of "agree with me or pay the consequence."

I grew up in a Republican family and I had voted Republican EVERY electionuntil the last election when I became so disgusted at the way Republicans were running things that I voted a straight line party vote for Democrats.

Bush is very bad at foreign policy. Do you think you have a chance of creating piece with a nation when you call them a member of the Axis of Evil, especially after having just invaded two countries and talking about invading at least one more? To me, that sounds something similar to what Adolf Hitler did. No wonder the Europeans were edgy. And if Britain hadn't been so closely tied with us and dependent on us, they wouldn't have joined us either. We primarily went it alone in Iraq. We had lost over 2,000 some troops and the next largest lost was Britain with 80. Whenever we went into a conflict before we were with about 6-7 other nations.

Then on top of all the loss of life, have you ever thought how all of those billions of dollars could have been used if they had been spent here at home? We could have stepped up security, intelligence, and technology. We could have prevented crime from going up by over 10% across the nation. We could have helped college students to more easily afford college. Heck, other countries save so much by not spending so much on war that their students get their college degree for free. To them, it's just as normal as for us going to high school. We spent so much in Iraq and rebuilding their country that we couldn't even hardly afford rebuild our own after Katrina.

Notice that we went into Iraq alone. If it was a serious threat, don't you think that the countries that were a lot closer to it would have been more willing to invade? All we do by bullying countries around is make them hate use more. The more they hate us, the bigger of a target we become. How often do you hear of Switzerland becoming a target? Basically never! They don't enter wars or bully nations around and thus they don't put a big bullseye on theirself.

All invading Iraq has done is made other nations madder at us, made us a bigger target for terrorists, weakened our political sway across the globe (you can't threaten military force for peace concessions if your military force is completely tied up somewhere), cost us thousands of lives, billions of dollars (at least $40,000 per US family) which we will eventually have to pay off, and put us in a much weaker position to keep Iran and North Korea in check while reducing funds in the US to fund the fight against crime, rebuild New Orleans, and fun our soldier's health care (which Bush cut).

And finally, the US Patriot Act should be ended. It is the worst legislation ever passed in the US. Since it was enacted it has allowed citizens to be held indefinitely without trial or evidence against them. And it has allowed the NSA to listen in to all of our phone conversations. So I hope you enjoy the NSA listening to your phone calls, especially if you use AT%26amp;T.
Reply:I loved reading the responses to this question. So many people are talking about the wrong thing. The problem isn't with supporting or not supporting Bush, the problem is bigger than that.

In the Golden years of the United States party loyalty was unknown to statesman. Their loyalty was not to the wig party or to anything else other than to the United States. Even 50 years ago Republicans and Democrats would still "hang out" after conventions, talk about policy, and attend dinner parties together.

Today loyalty is to the Party and then to the United States. Republicans are right Democrats are left and the majority of Americans are stuck in the middle. They get screwed because its either too far right or too far left. Even if Bush were sainted by the Catholic Church Democrats would still bash him, cause he's a Republican. Course if Kerry had won, he would have probably invaded Iraq too and the Republicans would be saying that he is Satan from hell to destroy America.

So the answer is that bleeding hearts will attack Bush because he's a Republican, and he'll bash them cause their Democrats. This is a little oversimplified but nonetheless true.
Reply:When he starts doing his job for us and not himself I will.
Reply:Don't be naive. All of the Bush administration's "efforts" in the midle east are designed to perpetuate sorrow, bloodshed, and chaos. People will keep dying, more terrorists are born every day, and the energy (fossil) cost will keep rising. Remember, the only two reasons we are in the Middle East are:

1. To generate revenue for the BIG OIL interests

2. Keep the "war on terror" going and thus generate huge profits for the WAR TYCOONS.

Is it a coincidence then that the Bush family and those that surround them are up to their necks in oil and weapons, and that is their main source of income? Wise up and quit listening to FOX news.
Reply:because the "bleeding hearts" are too weak to put the president where he belongs, prison. G. Washington would have let the Brits won if he knew this would have happened.
Reply:Bush's job is appears to be to feed the greed of his wealthies supporters and nothing more, even if it means destroying the entire world. And I don't want to see him succeed.
Reply:Maybe you are not paying attention to the news. Bush needs to bring the troops home before all of them are killed.Plus he is stupid

Francine
Reply:It really does not matter what the "bleeding hearts" have to say, because after 2 successful terms in office it is obvious that the majority approve of his job, and his vision.

Thank goodness that we have a President that looks far down the road, and takes actions for the future, and to protect Americans.

I could care less what the Europeans think...after all...what have the Europeans done for this world in the last 500 years?

America is the MOST POPULAR country in the world for immigrants....why??? Because it is the most humane, the most tolerant, and the country that offers the most opportunity for individuals in the world.

I believe that years from now, historians will look back on his administration kindly, and see what he had the guts to do.

America must remain strong, and provide leadership in this world...it is obvious that no other country is going to stand up to the evil that exits....IRAN being the next big problem.

Iraq is a stretegic step in the middle east, and like Germany, Japan, Korea we are still their for stretegic reasons, and in the middle east we must temain as well to counter the increasing islamic extremist.

Only the naive believe that we are not in a war, and only they choose to go on and party while others risk their lives to protect America and the world from evil.
Reply:Let bush do his job. That's what we have been doing for the last 6 1/2 years and it has gotten us know where.

1.Terrorist acts are up 70% because our foreign policy benefits the rich, Poor people in all nations suffer therefore creating a climate for new terrorist to be born.

2. Lies about the War in Iraq what caused the War. Even after we were notified by Bush about his mistake we are still in a country that doesn't want us there.

He needs to do a better job of putting sanctions on Companies that do business in Dufar, Rwanda and Israel ( made up by the US in 1935) when they continue to kill innocent people.

Place sanctions on Companies that fuel Global Warming and stop making excuses for the rich.

Come up with plan to get the Troops out of Iraq.

Create a Healthplan so children like the one in Maryland wont die from a Toothache.
Reply:Because they Hate America ! And they can't stand the fact Republicans do a much better job of running the country. They always talk about low Approval ratings with Bush. If this is so important how do they explain the whopping 29% approval ratings for the Democrat controlled Senate ! After all lets spend billions of dollars on a Global Warming theory we don't have to worry about the real threat to America That being protecting America from Terrorist
Reply:Thank God checks and balances have at last (after 6 long years) kicked in so that we can curb him in "his job". He has single-handledly made our country so less safe...he has spawned terrorists by the thousands from masses of uneducated Muslims who now are a real threat to us (well, kind of...mostly that's Fox news trumping up the "terror level"....). Right after 9/11 we had the world's sympathy, we had the world's support.....but when we (Bush) turned away from going after Bin Laden and focused on illegally trumping up a war with Iraq (for no known reason!!!) then we have steadily turned the world against us. There was no such thing as "Al Queda in Iraq" then...there sure as heck is now....and you can thank idiot-in-chief Bushie for it. What is "bleeding heart" about wanting to restore respect for America by introducing someone with brains back into the White House?
Reply:My bleeding heart!!!...My bleeding wallet!!!...
Reply:Is it "his job" to destroy the earth - because if so, he's doing a great job, despite the fact that only 28% of Americans agree with him! I don't get your admonition of "bleeding hearts" - aren't all republicans and radical right-wingers supposed to be the chosen of God as referenced in the Bible? The Christian Soldiers who believe in Jesus Christ, the one who taught love, forgiveness, and turning the other cheek!?! Do you actually think that Bush can kill every non-Christian on earth? Do you honestly think that this is a good idea, one that will make it possible for you to sleep well at night and bring comfort to your loved ones? You really need to seek psychiatric help, because what you express here isn't an opinion, it's madness.
Reply:Since this is under "Global Warming" I actually do agree... the "Kyoto Agreements" are distinctly unfair to the US and give India and China an incredible advantage !!

On Immigration, President Bush is a FOOL, and a tool of the corporate lobbyists who want those cheap laborers for Wal-Mart, the packing plants, and home-building.

Yeppers, I'm a Republican... but a tree-hugging California Jew who is a US Navy veteran of 15 years
Reply:The blood is real dear . Ask the parents of all the soldiers who shed it in Iraq because Bush doesn't have the sense to pull our troops out of there . We , by all INTELLIGENT accounts are less safe now than in 2001.

Or maybe it's because Bush caters to special interest groups instead of the people who hired him. Why don't we have a fossil fuel policy like in Europe? Because , that would interfere with our middle east oil policy and all of Bush's Arabian oil baron friends who financed him in the last election.

We are the biggest polluter / capita and biggest consumer of fossil fuel ..HANDS DOWN , we are a serious global threat . I hope Europe places economic sanctions on us SOON for our global crimes , commited by Bush in our name.

Maybe then we will see some real change around here.
Reply:Exactly what job are you referring to - it seems to most of the public he is serving the interest of the oil companies he holds stock in and not this country at all.
Reply:HIS JOB OF DESTROYING THE USA?

BETTER TO HAVE A BLEEDING HEART THAN NONE AT ALL.
Reply:BECAUSE BUSH ISN'T DOING HIS JOB
