I did not have bleeding prior to the papsmear and vaginal ultrasound. I feel like Iam about to have a period. I do not have any cramping or stomach pain.
6weeks and my baby heart beat could not be detected. I was given a pap sm. now I have some bleeding.Iam afraid
the baby is so small right now, it definitely could be hiding behind your pelvic bone, and very hard to detect. it is also normal to have bleeding after a papsmear, only spotting though, anything heavy should be looked into.
Reply:Do not worry. the baby is still a bit small for the heart beat to be detected. I am sure they will find it next time. Bleeding can be normal from a papsmear. This is just because they have scrapped the vaginal lining. It's nothing to be worried about. If your still wondering you can call your dr. and he/she will assure you.
Reply:I'm sorry your dealing with this right now! You must be so scared!
Try to relax though. Pap smears do often cause some bleeding when done in pregnancy. This is normal.
It probably is too early to hear your baby's heartbeat. Heartbeat can usually be detected by vaginal ultrasound at around 6-7 weeks. It can not be heard on the doppler until closer to 12 weeks.
Good Luck!
Reply:Its normal to have some cramping and light bleeding after getting a pap. Didnt your dr tell you this???THey should have..
Reply:I had a vaginal ultrasound done at almost 6 weeks and they couldnt see the heartbeat either.
I went back 10 days later and there it was!
Sometimes it cannot be detected that early.
Reply:this is normal. Anytime from now on when you doctor examines you you will probably bleed, but just a little spotting. You probably won't hear the heartbeat until 12 weeks and even then it might not happen. Also with plus size women it is even harder to find and hear a heartbeat, it takes longer. Remember at 6 weeks your baby is smaller than a sunflower seed. Relax and take it easy. Also keep in mind if something is really worrying you call your doctor. There is no such thing as a bad question. But I would say you are fine. Congratulations and good luck!!
Reply:It's normal to have a little bleeding after a pap or a vaginal ultrasound. I wouldn't panic just yet. If you do start to bleed like a normal period, then you are having a miscarriage but as long as you don't start to bleed like a period your ok.
I have had two miscarriages and never had any cramping or stomach pain so that doesn't really mean anything.
Call your doctors office and ask for another ultrasound in 2 weeks to see if they can find the heart beat then. Sometimes it takes a little bit to find it. Usually if it isn't there by 8 weeks, something is wrong and the baby isn't developing correctly.
But make sure you go back to see if the heart beat is there.
Reply:Well, even if the heart beat couldn't be detected, don't worry too much. You could maybe just be a few days shy of 6 weeks, and sometimes the heart beat can't be detected yet at that stage. Also, the pap smear probably caused the bleeding. Rough sex can do that, too.
Reply:I had a little bit of spotting after my last pap smear - it's perfectly normal. As far as not detecting the heartbeat, 6 weeks is pretty early and you may just need to wait a bit longer to be able to detect it.
Reply:last year i found out i was pregnant. and i went to have an ultrasound and the dr said i was 8 weeks along. but she didnt find the heart beat. so 2 weeks later i went to get a second opinion and the baby still seemed to be 8 weeks old... unfortunatly it didnt make it and i misscarried a week later...
you should seek a second opinion. have a different dr. give you an ultrasound to make sure everything is fine
