no but it can effect kidney function and the flow of blood, becuase it effectively thins the blood. Bleeding in the bladder if already occurring can worsen with asprin due to the thin blood factor.
Does aspirin(taken by heart patient) cause bleeding in the bladder?
Should not normally, unless the renal function are grossly deranged. Aspirin can cause bleeding in stomach specially if taken empty stomach. It can also prolong bleeding through a wound and can cause bruises.
Reply:I hope not,I am taking 325 Mg of the orange coated aspirin a day because I had stents put in. Back in July my Dr told me to take an 325 Mg aspirin a day.He failed to mention a coated one"not micro coated but interic coated".I took regular aspirin for 4 months, now I'm taking nexium to help fix that. This type releases more into your intestine than in your stomach.I've never heard of them affecting your bladder .Take it with food and you probably want ever have any trouble with it.If you can take the 81 Mg your even better off.Ask your Dr.
Reply:it can lead to bleeding anywhere i nthe body, also in the bladder
Reply:That doesn't sound right - because aspirin affects the clotting ability of the blood. It shouldn't really affect the filtration of blood in the kidneys: i.e. it does not affect the red blood cell size, nor the size of the spaces in your kidney tubules (think of your kidney tubules as a sieve - the red blood cells are too big to pass through and out your system).
My advice is - see your doctor. There is either something wrong with your kidneys or you have a urinary tract infection (most likely the latter).
Reply:As a heart patient myself, I will only say No. Bleeding in the bladder could be caused by some other reason and not aspirin.
Reply:OK. I see some odd answers here. So lets get some facts straight.
First, aspirin is a blood thinner. That is if you bleed, you will be bleeding heavier, longer. That's why you should never take aspirin before a dental or surgical procedure.
Second, it can cause bleeding of the stomach, by direct action on the stomach.
Third, it has no effect on the bladder.
Therefore, anyone who has blood in their urine should see a doctor. Because the aspirin makes the bleeding worse, but it not causing it.
Infections, bladder cancer, prostate cancer for men, uterine/cervical cancer for women need to be evaluated for. Kidney problems rarely cause direct bleeding.
