she just had the heart surgery 4 hours ago and they dont know where the its coming from
HELP!!! my aunt has internal bleeding in her stomach after heart surgery??? whyyy ASAP?
Does she have a history of bleeding ulcers?? In addition, the bodily stress from having major surgery can cause " stress ulcers", very common. In most cases, after major surgery, a patient will be placed on medication ( Reglan, Prevacid, Nexium, or Protonix) to off set the body's reaction to developing " stress ulcers" from having major surgery. Since your Aunt is still hospitalized, I'm certain that this is being monitored closely and/or tested for the cause. There may also be an underlying cause for her " internal bleeding". It is best that you talk directly to the Nurse who is taking care of your Aunt or request that you would like to speak to the surgeon or one of his/her associates to get a direct answer. I hope that this helps and that your Aunt gets well soon. Ruth
Reply:I'm sure they will find the source, and since she is in the hospital, I am sure she is in good hands. probably not from her actual stomach
Reply:I don't understand. You state she has internal bleeding in her stomach, yet they don't know where it is coming from. It is from her stomach, if that's what you say. Stress ulcers may be a cause of gastrointestinal bleeding. The stress of a major surgery can cause stress ulcers. They can be treated with H2 blockers, antacids, ice lavages, and blood transfusions if necessary.
Reply:If she just had surgery, the doctors are quite aware of the situation and they are taking really good care of her. They will know best where the bleeding is coming from. Nobody on the Internet can give that information to you. I hope your aunt is better soon.
Reply:Bleeding inside can be from a number of reasons...you say it is in the stomache...could be a previously undiagnosed ulcer that bled when the use the blood thinners on the heart pump. If it is in the chest, than a bleeder from the surgery. Also there is something called a stress ulcer that developes when the body is stressed in the hospital...anyway, they will find it...eventually. Good Luck!!
Reply:Maybe they left something in the open wound. I would have a X-Ray immediately.
Reply:UMMMM, COMPLICATIONS OF THE SURGERY!!! If she is still in the Hospital, then I am sure they will find out the problem. There are MANY things that could have caused it, nicking a organ, artery, or a underline problem that was there before and aggravated by the stress of the surgery.
Good Luck to your Aunt, and we will keep her in our prayers
Reply:something went wrong in the surgery???
Reply:Could it be drainage from the surgery?
Reply:If you are being serious, get off the computer and telephone for medical assistance. Incidentally if you are not serious you surely do not mean this as a sick joke !
Reply:Tell someone to either contact the Hospital or take her to the Emergency room ASAP Just in case.
Reply:Why if youre that concerned.... why oh why are you on here asking that? I can throw a guess at this and know my answer will be right! And my answer is.. I'm sure they do know or will at least find where the bleed is coming from in less than the time it took you and me to write or answer this question! If they're qualified surgeons that is!
Reply:If the medical people don't know, certainly no one on Yahoo Answers does. Be strong, suck it up, and we'll all hope and pray for the very best.
Reply:wish you all the best. my only guess is the doctors poked or cut something while performing surgery or the stress of the surgery caused the internal bleeding
