Why do cons think that because I am a Democrat, I am necessarily a bleeding heart liberal?

1. I don't believe abortion should be used as a form of birth control.


2. I don't like Hillary.


3. I do hate the war in Iraq, but if we are going to stay the course so to speak, I say give em fair warning and go in there with all the fire power we got. Just like that Liberal Truman.


4. I don't like Barbra Streisand.


5. I have never hugged a tree, but have found some much more interesting than some of the neo cons on this site.


6. I am not convinced that global warming exists, but usually where there is smoke, there is fire.


7. Don't care much for Al Gore.


So please stop insisting that we are all a bunch of sheep. That would better describe yourselves.

You are certainly not the average Democrat. With that said, this Conservative fully understands the difference between Democrats and Liberals. It is not the Democrat I take issue with it is the Liberal, who unfortunately have hijacked your party, just as the New Right has hijacked the Republican party. The Democratic leadership and core base are Socialists or even Communists, which strikes directly at the heart of this great nation.

Reply:Sheep doesn't describe me and I am Conservative. I agree that all liberals don't have the same views but neither do we. I don't believe Bush has handled the borders or schools very well. I don't disagree with the Dem's who voted for the war and I agree with the ones in the Clinton years who thought that Saddam needed to be taken from power. Don't need to throw the same insult back at others that you are trying to disprove. We are not really that far apart in what we are trying to achieve but just on the how to of it all.

Liberalism allows for many divergent points of view.I guess that's hard to understand for many.





Edit-I should also state that there is a difference between Liberalism and Far Left ideology.The term Liberal has been hijacked by both sides and turned into caricature of what it truly is.
Reply:I never claimed that ALL democrats were bleeding heart liberals. I know there are a few like you out there that follow their party line blindly. Just like there are Republicans (like me) who aren't so over the top conservative that I can't see the other sides point of view, because I'm so blinded by my own.
Reply:I agree with you on many things. Though, I'm a Libertarian I considered myself a Democrat up until some time. I never hug a tree, not that big of a naturalist. I don't like hippies or those crazy anti-war protestors. Though, I'm against the Iraq war I don't want us to leave immediately nor am I crazy about Al Gore. I'm a Christian too and while I think global warming exists I'm not convinced that is our fault. The Democrats in Congress and the ones that appear in Fox News make Democrats like you and many others appear like loony liberals.
Reply:It's easier to label your opposition as a vast unthinking and uniform hoarde of morons and then base all of your opinions on that one generalization. It makes it so much easier not to have to talk to people and learn other viewpoints. That's difficult and people don't like to open themselves up to the possibility of being wrong.
