Can I remove part of my Bleeding Heart Plant and replant it?

Where shall I cut it off from the plant?

Can I remove part of my Bleeding Heart Plant and replant it?
I have a white bleeding heart, every fall I chop it in half. I take my spade and split right down the middle. Make sure that when you re-plant you take part of the original soil with it. I also dig around the umbrella (base) that way I make sure I get a good chunk of root. Happy re-planting, and enjoy.
Reply:just dig down between the stalks with a spade and separate a piece with some roots.
Reply:yes you can just divide the plant in half, have a new hole ready with a bit of topsoil, trim it back vigorously, like over half its height.and water well. We live in zone 6 and they will naturalize on their own. I have several new ones coming. Good luck. Fall is best time to do this.........GL
