I am wondering if anyone can advise me about when and how to divide sedum and bleeding heart plants?
Sedum is actually quite easy to divide-spring,summer and fall. To divide just break a few pieces from the mother plant and stick in the ground. They do not require a lot of attention. Bleeding hearts should be divided after blooming about every 4 or 5 years. Dig the plants up and gently pull the rhizomes apart and replant about every three feet.

For perennials that bloom in spring ...like your bleeding heart...fall is the best time to thin out, divide %26amp; transplant. It's a good thing to thin perennials when they start getting overgrown. When crowded, the plants produce fewer blooms and are more likely to become diseased. Thinning is an easy, inexpensive way to generate more plants and to prevent one species from crowding out others.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. My husband left me with a 6month old and a year and a half year old. What is worse, he only saw the children when he had a new girlfriend.
After separating, I concentrated on raising my children in a loving enviornment. The problem was that 25 years ago, they did not have all of the support systems that they have today.
P L E A S E, for your childrens sake, find help with support groups, social groups, or mental health workers. ALL Anon (spelling ? A A for family) helped but I did not fond them until the children were teens.Whatever, do not attempt to handle your heartbreak and children by yourself. Of course, the greatest way to survive is through prayer.
Do not try to mend your broken heart with another man. You will not only endanger yourself, but your children more.

But, you also need to think about the temperament of the fish, since tetra are shoaling fish *aka schooling fish* you might want to buy 3 or 4 more to keep him company, then comes the question of the goldfish, if it is a fancy finned variety, watch very carefully that the tetras do not nip at the long,delicate fins, and you can normally tell damage done by the tetras by the way the g/f acts around them, if the g/f is a skinny body type, it can move fast and not be bullied as much , so it could work, and it has for me, but I have had people tell me stories about the goldies and tropicals not mixing well. so give it a try, and hopefully there aren't any problems

It should be done blooming by now...I always cut mine down after they finish blooming and the leaves start yellowing. They grow back every year--no problem. They are pretty hearty plants. I've dug some up to divide them and threw some of the old roots into the woods and had a bleeding heart growing in the woods the next spring.

You can safely cut bleeding heart foliage back when it has turned yellow. I have a white and a regular pink one and I've had no problem when I've cut them back. I love my animals but they are not my children !!!! I really wish people would be responsible for there pets and get them fixed, but why should I feel guility when thousands of dogs get put to death. I am not adding to the problem. and I am not the solution I love meat of all kinds (except veal) and all I ask is it to be killed humanly.. if my children were starving to death hell yeah I would eat fido....So maybe all these dogs that are being killed in the shelters need to go and feed the hungery instead of the land fill? do you know what happens to a herd of deer when there numbers are to high they starve to death, what are your thoughts????

i do agree with you, and I feel almost the same way. almost. the thing i disagree with is the dogs being sent to feed the hungry. Now, there are starving people AND starving animals. and , like u said, when there are too high numbers of a breed, the weak or unfortunate end up dieing. Human kind has toyed with this theory, with money, different inventions, etc. but Humans are animals as well, Might I remind you. do NOT get me wrong. I care a lot about the hungry. 8 wks pregnant bleeding baby has heart beat?
i am 8 wks pregnant today and i already posted this question yesterday but thursday i was at dr and baby had heart beat an i had some light bleeding then bleeding stoped then saturday the bleeding was back and it hasnt wetn away it get worse when i stand up then when i lay around. can anyone help

Go to the ER. I went through the same thing, and the doctor put me on bed rest until my next dr.'s appointment. I turned out to be fine, but it's still scary as hell. Go to the ER.

was rushed to hospital thinking i had lost the baby but after emergency ultrasounds it turned out the baby was fine.( i was also told it is quite common to bleed at 6, 8, and 12 weeks pregnant. i never knew this.)
when i saw my reg doc he told me to go home and rest.
thats all he ever said when i was still bleeding at 14weeks i couldnt take it anymore so i went to a new doc who discovered my placenta was comming unstuck.
he gave me some tablets to stop the bleed and that should help the placenta reattatch.
it worked, i stopped bleeding and placenta is now fully attatched.
i am due in a week.
go to your doctor n if ur told to go home and rest see another doctor!!!!!

But Bleeding is normal if you stoped your period too But it is only normal if you were having sex or having anything up in you. ADDED (for the moralist): The Sermon on the Mount is not the governing document in this nation. The US Constitution is. And Christianity is freedom of religion. You are free to practice it, and free to interpret Jesus' words as you see fit. You might look at ALL of His words, though. You are really missing His point. He never told Christians to fight oppression, as indicated by His own crucifixion. Our US Constitution gives us that right.

So my answer was to point out, having a "bleeding heart" is a good Christian thing. Being a liberal politically is a legitimate way to put ones bleeding heart into action.
